How is net salary calculated in Yemen?
In Yemen, net salary is calculated by subtracting social security contributions (Social Security (GOSI)) and income tax (Personal Income Tax) from the annual gross salary.
Personal Income Tax uses a progressive scale. Rates range from 10 % for the lowest incomes to 20 % for the highest. Only the portion of income that falls within each bracket is taxed at that rate, never the full salary.
Social Security (GOSI) contributions amount to approximately 6 % of gross salary, funding the pension, healthcare and other social benefits available to employees in Yemen.
This calculator uses official data from Tax Authority Yemen (tax.gov.ye) for 2026. Results are indicative; for exact calculations or specific situations (personal deductions, special regimes) consult a tax adviser or the country's tax authority.
Yemen has been in civil war since 2015. The country is divided between the internationally recognised government and the Houthis. Tax administration and social security are severely disrupted. This calculator is indicative and reflects the pre-conflict tax system.
