How is net salary calculated in Lithuania?
In Lithuania, net salary is calculated by subtracting social security contributions (Social contributions (VSD + PSD)) and income tax (PIT (GPM)) from the annual gross salary.
PIT (GPM) uses a progressive scale. Rates range from 15 % for the lowest incomes to 20 % for the highest. Only the portion of income that falls within each bracket is taxed at that rate, never the full salary.
Social contributions (VSD + PSD) contributions amount to approximately 15,7 % of gross salary, funding the pension, healthcare and other social benefits available to employees in Lithuania.
This calculator uses official data from State Tax Inspectorate (vmi.lt) for 2026. Results are indicative; for exact calculations or specific situations (personal deductions, special regimes) consult a tax adviser or the country's tax authority.
Employee contributions: VSD pension 8.72% and PSD health 6.98% (total ~15.7%). The non-taxable amount (NPD) is up to €6,720/year, phasing out above €20,000 income.
