How is net salary calculated in Taiwan?
In Taiwan, net salary is calculated by subtracting social security contributions (Labor Insurance + NHI + Labor Pension) and income tax (Individual Income Tax) from the annual gross salary.
Individual Income Tax uses a progressive scale. Rates range from 5 % for the lowest incomes to 40 % for the highest. Only the portion of income that falls within each bracket is taxed at that rate, never the full salary.
Labor Insurance + NHI + Labor Pension contributions amount to approximately 3,01 % of gross salary, funding the pension, healthcare and other social benefits available to employees in Taiwan.
This calculator uses official data from Ministry of Finance Taiwan (mof.gov.tw) for 2026. Results are indicative; for exact calculations or specific situations (personal deductions, special regimes) consult a tax adviser or the country's tax authority.
Employee contributions: labor insurance (~0.9%) and National Health Insurance NHI (2.11%). Labor pension (6%) is fully employer-paid. The personal exemption (NT$92,000) and standard deduction (NT$136,000) reduce taxable income.
