How is net salary calculated in Jordan?
In Jordan, net salary is calculated by subtracting social security contributions (SSC (Social Security Corporation)) and income tax (Personal Income Tax (PIT)) from the annual gross salary.
Personal Income Tax (PIT) uses a progressive scale. Rates range from 5 % for the lowest incomes to 30 % for the highest. Only the portion of income that falls within each bracket is taxed at that rate, never the full salary.
SSC (Social Security Corporation) contributions amount to approximately 7,5 % of gross salary, funding the pension, healthcare and other social benefits available to employees in Jordan.
This calculator uses official data from Income & Sales Tax Dept. Jordan (istd.gov.jo) for 2026. Results are indicative; for exact calculations or specific situations (personal deductions, special regimes) consult a tax adviser or the country's tax authority.
The basic personal deduction is JOD 9,000/year (single). The employee contributes 7.5% to the SSC (pension and insurance); the employer adds 14.25%. Brackets apply to net income after deductions.
