How is net salary calculated in Namibia?
In Namibia, net salary is calculated by subtracting social security contributions (SSC (Social Security Commission)) and income tax (PAYE (Income Tax, NamRA) 2024/25) from the annual gross salary.
PAYE (Income Tax, NamRA) 2024/25 uses a progressive scale. Rates range from 0 % for the lowest incomes to 37 % for the highest. Only the portion of income that falls within each bracket is taxed at that rate, never the full salary.
SSC (Social Security Commission) contributions amount to approximately 0,9 % of gross salary, funding the pension, healthcare and other social benefits available to employees in Namibia.
This calculator uses official data from Namibia Revenue Agency (namra.mof.gov.na) for 2026. Results are indicative; for exact calculations or specific situations (personal deductions, special regimes) consult a tax adviser or the country's tax authority.
The first NAD 50,000/year is exempt. The employee contributes 0.9% to the SSC (sickness, maternity, work accident and death), capped at NAD 81/month. The Namibian dollar (NAD) is pegged to the South African rand (1 NAD = 1 ZAR).
