How is net salary calculated in Syria?
In Syria, net salary is calculated by subtracting social security contributions (Syrian Social Insurance) and income tax (Personal Income Tax) from the annual gross salary.
Personal Income Tax uses a progressive scale. Rates range from 5 % for the lowest incomes to 28 % for the highest. Only the portion of income that falls within each bracket is taxed at that rate, never the full salary.
Syrian Social Insurance contributions amount to approximately 7 % of gross salary, funding the pension, healthcare and other social benefits available to employees in Syria.
This calculator uses official data from Ministry of Finance Syria (mof.gov.sy) for 2026. Results are indicative; for exact calculations or specific situations (personal deductions, special regimes) consult a tax adviser or the country's tax authority.
Since the start of the armed conflict in 2011, Syria has experienced a severe economic and humanitarian crisis. The Syrian pound has suffered extreme depreciation. The formal tax system is severely disrupted. This calculator is indicative and reflects the legal framework prior to the crisis.
