How is net salary calculated in Singapore?
In Singapore, net salary is calculated by subtracting social security contributions (CPF (Central Provident Fund)) and income tax (Income tax (IRAS) 2024) from the annual gross salary.
Income tax (IRAS) 2024 uses a progressive scale. Rates range from 0 % for the lowest incomes to 24 % for the highest. Only the portion of income that falls within each bracket is taxed at that rate, never the full salary.
CPF (Central Provident Fund) contributions amount to approximately 20 % of gross salary, funding the pension, healthcare and other social benefits available to employees in Singapore.
This calculator uses official data from IRAS Singapore (iras.gov.sg) for 2026. Results are indicative; for exact calculations or specific situations (personal deductions, special regimes) consult a tax adviser or the country's tax authority.
CPF (Central Provident Fund) is the social security backbone: employee contributes 20%, employer 17% (for those under 55). CPF contributions apply only on ordinary wages up to S$6,800/month (S$81,600/year).
