How is net salary calculated in Maldives?
In Maldives, net salary is calculated by subtracting social security contributions (Mandatory Pension (MPS)) and income tax (Personal Income Tax (introduced 2020)) from the annual gross salary.
Personal Income Tax (introduced 2020) uses a progressive scale. Rates range from 0 % for the lowest incomes to 15 % for the highest. Only the portion of income that falls within each bracket is taxed at that rate, never the full salary.
Mandatory Pension (MPS) contributions amount to approximately 7 % of gross salary, funding the pension, healthcare and other social benefits available to employees in Maldives.
This calculator uses official data from Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (mira.gov.mv) for 2026. Results are indicative; for exact calculations or specific situations (personal deductions, special regimes) consult a tax adviser or the country's tax authority.
Employee contributes 7% to the mandatory MPS pension; employer also contributes 7%. Personal income tax was introduced in 2020; personal allowance is Rf 720,000/year (Rf 60,000/month).
