How is net salary calculated in Vietnam?
In Vietnam, net salary is calculated by subtracting social security contributions (Social + Health + Unemployment Insurance) and income tax (PIT (Personal Income Tax)) from the annual gross salary.
PIT (Personal Income Tax) uses a progressive scale. Rates range from 5 % for the lowest incomes to 35 % for the highest. Only the portion of income that falls within each bracket is taxed at that rate, never the full salary.
Social + Health + Unemployment Insurance contributions amount to approximately 10,5 % of gross salary, funding the pension, healthcare and other social benefits available to employees in Vietnam.
This calculator uses official data from Ministry of Finance Vietnam (mof.gov.vn) for 2026. Results are indicative; for exact calculations or specific situations (personal deductions, special regimes) consult a tax adviser or the country's tax authority.
Employee contributions: social insurance 8%, health 1.5%, unemployment 1% (total 10.5%). Personal allowance is ₫11,000,000/month (₫132,000,000/year). Social insurance contributions reduce the taxable base.
