How is net salary calculated in Bhutan?
In Bhutan, net salary is calculated by subtracting social security contributions (Provident Fund (PF)) and income tax (PIT (Personal Income Tax)) from the annual gross salary.
PIT (Personal Income Tax) uses a progressive scale. Rates range from 0 % for the lowest incomes to 25 % for the highest. Only the portion of income that falls within each bracket is taxed at that rate, never the full salary.
Provident Fund (PF) contributions amount to approximately 5 % of gross salary, funding the pension, healthcare and other social benefits available to employees in Bhutan.
This calculator uses official data from Dept. of Revenue and Customs Bhutan (mof.gov.bt) for 2026. Results are indicative; for exact calculations or specific situations (personal deductions, special regimes) consult a tax adviser or the country's tax authority.
Government employees contribute 5% to the provident fund; private sector terms vary. Personal allowance is Nu 300,000/year. The Bhutanese Ngultrum (BTN) is pegged 1:1 to the Indian Rupee (INR).
