Electricity prices in Morocco (2026): ONEE tariff bands

In Morocco a residential kWh costs between DH 0.9010 and DH 1.5958 including VAT, depending on monthly consumption. The key is the 150 kWh rule: above it, all your consumption is charged at the price of the band reached. Here is the official tariff and a calculator.

Up to 150 kWh a month billing is progressive: the first 100 kWh at DH 0.9010 and the next 50 at DH 1.0732. Above 150 kWh billing becomes selective: every kWh is charged at the price of the band reached.

The selective-band trap

With selective billing, a few extra kWh can be expensive. At 300 kWh everything is charged at DH 1.1676, DH 350.28 in total. At 301 kWh everything moves to DH 1.3817, DH 415.89: DH 65 more for a single kWh. ONEE applies a 10 kWh tolerance above each band limit, but the logic is the same.

To keep the bill down, watch your consumption at the end of the month and try to stay just below a limit (150, 200, 300 or 500 kWh).

VAT and tax-inclusive prices

The prices above are those published by ONEE, VAT included (ONEE states 18%). The 2024 Finance Law scheduled a gradual increase in VAT on electricity from 14% to 20% in 2026, but the pre-tax price was reduced so that the price households pay stays the same. Large-city distributors apply the same tariff as ONEE, which we could not verify for each one.

Frequently asked questions

What is the price of electricity per kWh in Morocco in 2026?

Including VAT: DH 0.9010 up to 100 kWh a month, DH 1.0732 up to 200 kWh, DH 1.1676 up to 300 kWh, DH 1.3817 up to 500 kWh and DH 1.5958 above.

What is selective billing?

Above 150 kWh a month, all consumption is charged at the price of the band reached rather than band by band.

How much do 200 kWh cost in Morocco?

200 × 1.0732 = DH 214.64 including VAT for the energy, excluding meter rental.

Are prices inclusive of VAT?

Yes. ONEE publishes its prices including VAT.

How can I reduce my electricity bill in Morocco?

Stay below a band limit at the end of the month, because crossing 150, 200, 300 or 500 kWh moves all consumption to the higher price.
