Electricity prices in Lebanon (2026): the EDL tariff
Since the tariff reform of late 2022, Électricité du Liban's tariff is set in US dollars: US$0.10 per kWh for the first 100 kWh of the month and US$0.27 above that, plus a subscription fee per ampere. This tariff is still in force in 2026.
| Item | kWh | Amount |

Residential tariff in force
The bill has two blocks, each at its own price, plus the subscription fee and VAT. The rehabilitation fee was annulled and the 20% exchange-rate surcharge was revoked in 2024.
| EDL residential tariff (in US dollars) | Price |
|---|---|
| 0 – 100 kWh | 0.10 US$/kWh |
| 100 – ∞ kWh | 0.27 US$/kWh |
- Subscription fee: US$0.25 per ampere (single-phase) or US$0.75 per ampere (three-phase). The calculator assumes a 20 A single-phase subscription, US$5 a month.
- VAT: 11%.
- The tariff is set in US dollars and paid in Lebanese pounds at the Banque du Liban rate (about LBP 89,500 per dollar).
How much is an EDL electricity bill?

Private generators
Because EDL supplies only a few hours a day, most households also pay for a private generator subscription. The Ministry of Energy and Water sets generator prices every month: in August 2026, LBP 48,241 per kWh, plus LBP 385,000 a month for 5 A or LBP 685,000 for 10 A.
These prices change monthly with the price of diesel, so they are not included in the calculator.
Notes on the tariff
The tariff table in EDL's cost recovery plan gives the per-ampere subscription without stating the period; we assume it is monthly. The plan also mentions a reduction to US$0.2427 per kWh that contradicts its own table; we use the table. A VAT increase to 12% was proposed in February 2026 but has not been enacted.
