Subsidised residential tariff in force

The tariff is progressive: each block of monthly consumption is charged at its own price. The subsidised tariff applies to Jordanian households registered on the subsidy platform, for one subsidised meter per household.

The non-subsidised tariff

Meters not registered for the subsidy (for example non-Jordanians or a household's second meter) pay a higher flat tariff: JD 0.120 per kWh up to 1,000 kWh a month and JD 0.150 above. 400 kWh therefore cost about JD 48 instead of JD 23 on the subsidised tariff.

A Doha Institute study gives a 600 kWh threshold instead of 1,000 for the non-subsidised tariff; we use the figures published by the regulator when the tariff took effect.

How the bill is calculated

Example for a subsidised household using 400 kWh a month: 300 × 0.050 = JD 15, plus 100 × 0.100 = JD 10, minus a JD 2 deduction, for a bill of JD 23. This matches the regulator's sample-bill table.

Above 600 kWh every extra kWh costs JD 0.200, four times the first block. We could not confirm that the monthly deductions are still applied in 2026, and other fees on the bill (such as municipal fees) are not included.
